Xiaoyang Long

I am the Wisconsin Naming Partners professor and an Associate Professor in the Operations and Information Management Department at the Wisconsin School of Business (UW-Madison).

My research focuses on behavioral operations and sustainable supply chains. I use mathematical models and empirical methods to study decision-making of individuals and firms in operational settings. In my recent projects, I investigate how customer behavior interacts with emerging operational processes (e.g., fast fashion, e-commerce) to inform firms' supply chain and sustainability policies. I also study equity and efficiency issues in people operations.

I teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in Operations Management, Sourcing, and Supply Chain Strategy. I received my Ph.D in Operations Management from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and also hold a B.A. in Physics from Princeton University.

Research Interests:
Behavioral operations, sustainable supply chain management, interface between marketing and operations, new product development
